Welcome

If you’re seeking thoughtful, personalised counselling and mental health support,
you’re in the right place.

Like tall trees, growth unfolds naturally —
with patience, care, and the right conditions.

Based in Mount Barker, supporting adults across the Adelaide Hills — in person and online.

Elja Parsons, a psychotherapist offering individual counselling for adults in Mount Barker, Adelaide Hills
Hello, I'm Elja  (El-ya)

My approach to therapy is personalised, grounded in the philosophy that we are all just human and sometimes we need help to sort through the weeds.

Counselling with me is a collaborative, reflective process — paced to suit you.
You choose what feels important, and we explore together with curiosity and care.
You won’t be rushed, judged, or pathologised — just heard, seen, and supported.

There’s no expectation to know what you want from therapy or where to begin.
We can start exactly where you are.

I hold a Masters of Counselling and Psychotherapy and am registered as a certified practising counsellor with PACFA.

About

You might be here because:
  • Life looks okay on the outside, but something feels off

  • You’re not in crisis — yet you feel tired, stuck, or unsure how to move forward

  • You’re wanting space to slow down and make sense of things

  • You’re curious about yourself and ready for deeper understanding

Who I work with & Session Options:

I work with adults (18+) seeking individual counselling & psychotherapy.
Sessions last 60 minutes and can be held in person at my private consulting room amongst the tall trees of Mount Barker - Adelaide Hills, or via video call from wherever you are.

How I work:

My work is holistic and person-centred, guided by the understanding that each person’s experience is unique. I work in a way that is flexible, thoughtful, and centred around you.

Each session is shaped by what feels most important to talk about, rather than a pre-set plan.

I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches — including attachment-based work, narrative and meaning-focused therapy, ACT, DBT, and creative or expressive practices.

I can support you with:
  • Worry/anxiety

  • Feeling low

  • Self-critical thoughts

  • Increasing motivation

  • Building confidence

  • Stress and overwhelm

  • Loss or sadness

  • Feeling disconnected or lonely

  • Family or relationship challenges

  • Life purpose or transitions

  • Spiritual/existential challenges

Referrals and Care plans
